War/ele is an excelent combo. They have many differnt bulds and are very versitile.
That being said its probably more effective in PvE than PvP. Most PvP builds with wars are all war skills + res, though there are lots of exceptions.
Have fun with it, play with the conjures and dont over look Ice as slowing a foe at range can be very helpfull.

Just remember, if you do choose W/E to just use utility spells such as conjures in pve and pvp or shock in pvp. Other ele skills cost too much energy for a warrior to use and don't realy fit on a warrior skillbar.

I went through prophecies as a warrior/ele and loved every minute of it. Experiment with different elements keeping in mind that conjures are your friend. Since earth has no conjure, go pure tank with armor of earth, stoneflesh aura, and maybe a ward. Remember though, always have fun

Tanking sucks hard, don't ever think of doing it unless you're in DoA or something. Wards and protective ele spells should be left to defensive characters, because they're a waste of attribute points, slots, and time. Your job to to pwn stuff, not to screw around.

W/E is great, but I would recommend strongly against using any of the Elementalist skills available to you as a new character. The ones that are actually useful to a Warrior aren't available to much later in the game. As I recall, you have access to stuff like Flare, Firestorm, and Lava Font... damage spells that cost a lot of energy to do less damage than your sword/axe/hammer. They're a bad idea at level 5, they're not much better once you hit level 20. If you want to cast things like these just make an Elementalist.
Elementalist skills that are useful to a Warrior include
[skill]Conjure Flame[/skill][skill]Conjure Lightning[/skill][skill]Conjure Frost[/skill][skill]Shock[/skill][skill]Grasping Earth[/skill]
because they provide good utility that adds to or helps your primary weapon, and have reasonable energy costs that a Warrior can deal with.
I would recommend for now either take W/E with all Warrior skills, or take another secondary class and change it to W/E later if you want.

the 25% armour penetration means that the damage negates 25% of the foe's armour. For example when you hit a foe who has 100 armour, the damage of the skill is like it hits a foe with 75 armour

W/E is a pretty good combo and that was my first char in GW as well. Your best option is probably to put whatever points you don't put into your weapon and either strength or tactics and put it into one of the conjure lines. If you insist on going weapon+tactics+two el lines (earth and a conjure line) spec out:
10+1+1 (weapon)
10+1 (tactics)
8 (conjure line)
8 (earth)
That isn't an optimal split, but it is usable.

And you'll want your weapon mastery to be at least 14 (12+1+1), or you'll fail at damage.

I'd advise you to go W/N for your first character. [card]Plague Touch[/card]
Then go W/E after if you want. I don't find /E to be beneficial in PvE anymore.
But if you do, please don't go with the skill distribution that Winterclaw posted.
You need at least 14 in your weapon attribute. Don't split your attribute 4 ways.

go W/E and play a REAL build: shockaxe or cripslash, if you reall want to learn how to play the game. Why not make a pvp toon? It's easier if you are really into pvp. W/D rending touch is also a very good build.
Note: there is no "tank" in pvp. Don't tempt to be one. And be open to criticism^_^.

Warriors use Shock as a melee-range, unconditional knockdown in Eviscerate builds. The damage is a non-point. Most W/E's put 2 points in Air Magic, or whatever their leftover happens to be. Observe GvG and HA games sometime, you'll see Warriors using that build almost exclusively.
But for your question, it ignores the effects of 25% of the target's armor when damage is calculated for it. Most Air Magic spells do that.

Just play whatever feels right... Try to pick professions that seem to meld well with each other ( W/Mo... A/R... etc...)

Really good pvp war build= W/E: (14 axe 13 str 3 air) Eviserate(E), Executioner's strike, DChop, Shock, Frenzy, Bulls Strike, Rush, Res Sig.
D chop is a pretty open slot, but thats what i mostly perfer.
Be open to criticism, because you will be bad at first.
